It’s Spring and everything outside is new and fresh. Inside your home, however, you may find your kitchen is not. Now is the perfect time to consider a kitchen renovation. Below are some of the trends we are seeing this Spring.
Contrast of old and new – We see a mixing of natural, rustic finishes with clean modern lines, something we call “Organic Elegance”. Rustic elements like a walnut wood island top, reclaimed wood floors or beams, exposed brick or ledgestone contrast beautifully against the sleek shaker or slab door cabinets, simple-patterned backsplash, contemporary plumbing fixtures and shiny door hardware (satin finishes are not as popular).
Black and white is back –There is a reemergence of the classic black and white kitchen (white cabinets with black countertops or vice versa). Also, the all-white kitchen is still popular as well as earthy or neutral tones like grey or navy blue. You don’t just have to pick just one color for the cabinetry or countertops, we are seeing two-toned cabinetry for walls and bases, and different colored island tops and island cabinetry.
Quartz is tops – Quartz is our number one countertop choice for both its clean look and easy maintenance. Most popular colors are white, cream or light gray, either designed with veining to look like marble or with sparkly flecks for a contemporary look. There is even a new quartz that has a wood-like pattern which would be an interesting design element for today’s kitchen. We still see clients selecting light-colored quartzite, absolute black granite or grey soapstone as well.
Decluttered work spaces – Efficient storage behind cabinets doors for every utensil and appliance so that the work surfaces are clean and clutter free creates a relaxing environment. Some great options for storage are tech drawers to charge devices out of sight, sleek LeMans corner storage pullouts, dish drawers, pullout utensil cup holders, and appliance garages with pocket doors.
